Who We Are

The Fairfield Land Preservation Association is a voluntary non-profit  501(c)(3) tax exempt organization dedicated to enabling landowners in the perpetual stewardship of their property through the formation of conservation easements.

Goals

Seek to preserve the natural environment, historical heritage, and cultural diversity of Fairfield County.

Priority areas for local protection by landowners include:

1)  Highly productive farmland, especially areas with prime soils of Fairfield County.

2)  Floodplains, flood pools, and riparian corridors that act as stream-side buffers.

3)  Scenic vistas, especially those found along glacial margins, stream gorges and rocky bluffs or outcrops.

4)  Wetland areas that include man-made areas such as along abandoned canal corridors and isolated natural bogs and marshes.

5)  Green space buffers along existing protected features such as nature preserves, county, city and metropolitan park lands, and other existing conservation easements.

6)  Valuable historical and archaeological lands including the Zane’s Trace corridor, native American village sites and other historic structures and landmarks associated with early settlement.
